Moshe Samter- Great mini world

Today I met a special person, natural charmer full of energy, loves company and laughs!
He is 94 this year .
He always made some crafts always trying something new.
Until he landed in the miniature world . He did bookbinding, leather works and other DIY fields .
He makes every display out of scratch ,venir, cardboard, fabric and leather scraps and all nature can offer- seads, shells ect.
.He is a natural talent.
He and his family built a private museum where he shows his lovely art .
I made as many photos as I could to pass you the experience.

Real leather binded books. The open book is the gutenberg bible.

Snake skin screens on the right.
Haifa sea stones combines into "virgin island" statues.
a church

a synagoge

On one pannel Moshe explains and demonstrates his methods.

His tiny circus reminds me on the Alexander Calder circus I've seen in a kinetic toy exhibition.
If you are in Israel,go see this museum in Yoqneam.

Photography classes made me dive again.

I take photography classes since late last October.
When I had to choose my end of term subject, it was clear to me , it would be the  Minis.
So I dived right back as deep as I could and came up with these two bed rooms .
In both, Pattie Jonsonsons four poll bed is reigning.

This is the Black& white sceene.

The following is more flamboyant and includes a hand crocheted bed throw and a washi tape background  decoration.

It meant to be so many thigs. But in the end....

The trigger to this scene was the fire place. I had it ages . I planned and planned and nothing came of it untill now. Than, on one of my morning walks I found the floor and loved it. Architects sample just thrown out....
So here I was , intending to form some some chalet scene. But it soon occured that any outer view would ruin the fireplace effect. And so I ended up with a somewhat seventy's feel, quirky ( the ear plug frame being the art) and very colorful.
I love my Patie Johnson " x2 minis "  love seat and leather chair.
The love seat was the main push to this color pallet.
well is it elegant? quirky?vintage? cosy?  you tell me!

Cheers

Hot Summer Days ( and nights) - in the library

There is a song in Hebrew:" Nothing happens In the Hot Summer nights "
... not true in my case!
( Still is a  beautiful song)

This is my first post after ages! A lot has happened here but not on line.
 I'll try to show some!
We are in the middle of summer. August the heaviest month of the year awaits me with the rest of us Israelis and Mediterraneans.
It realy is the hottest, most humid month of the year. When September comes, we see some hope and yearn for automn.
And so, I think of India or some other tropical climates, where there are some  gentlemen of the old school left, with their fans and scotch  and lots of books and African/south American / Asian  memorabilia.

I designed a somewhat conseptual space , it took a long time to choose the right photos.I do not take time how long it takes....
The flooring, the stairs and some of the wall "dressing"  are my neighbor contibution.
He makes wine- and uses these Australian oak squares for when the wine is flavored.
I just rinsed them and set of to work.

I really wanted it "shabby chick " , did I make it? I wonder.
I turned this hutch into shabby - at the break of dawn.....
The book shelves on the right are Patie Jonson of http://www.etsy.com/shop/minisx2
I adore her work!
